"My experience was an exercise in physician advocacy on a government level, an aspect of health care that more doctors should be exposed to during their careers. I particularly enjoyed attending state legislative hearings in Trenton that discussed such ethically-charged bills as Death with Dignity. I was also able to sit in on various meetings throughout the state regarding the opioid crisis and met multiple local and state politicians as well. I found that a physician’s stance on such topics is much needed and highly appreciated, especially in the political arena."
